Marilyn's Magical Russian Tea

Marilyn's Magical Russian Tea

When I was a kid, there was a lady that lived across the street who used to play with me.  She had long blonde hair, a great laugh, and the most fabulous jewelry collection that she would let me dress up in.  Her husband was a captain in the military, and they had lived overseas for a while.  She had a baby blue Pininfarina convertible in the garage that she had brought back from Europe, and we would go cruising around the town.  She was like a fairy godmother.  One of our favorite things to do together was to have tea parties.  Sometimes she would make my favorite: Russian tea.  I assumed it was some fancy recipe she had learned while living abroad, and I felt like just like a princess sipping Russian tea out of my tiny porcelain teacup.

When I got older and learned the recipe for Russian tea, I had to laugh.  Marilyn knew how to make anything seem magical.  I still love to drink Russian tea, and it always brings back memories of my sweet neighbor.

  • ⅔ cup instant iced tea mix
  • ¼ cup lemonade mix
