I LOVE Anthropologie. Particularly their home decor and gifts. There’s just something about the beautiful coffee table books, yummy scented candles, unique place settings, the velvet pillows, the brass paperweights, I could go on and on. Unfortunately, we don’t have an Anthropologie in my town, so unless I find myself in a bigger city, I’m relegated to shopping their gorgeous wares online. But then the other day, something miraculous happened.
I was aimlessly wandering the aisles of Target, as one does, when I stumbled across their new home decor line, Opalhouse. It was like stepping into a (more harshly lit) Anthropologie. They had velvet, they had brass, and best of all, they had an affordable price point!
Now, I like to treat myself and splurge on some Anthro goodies every once in a while, but if I were looking to buy a piece of furniture, or even 4 full place settings, it’s simply not realistic to spend that much, especially considering our lifestyle at the moment (small child + dog). And then there are the items that I just can’t bring myself to spend that much money on, no matter how cute they are. 90 bucks for a shower curtain? Get outta here. Plus, and here’s the REAL reason I don’t buy drinkware/dinnerware from Anthropologie… most of it isn’t dishwasher safe. Ain’t nobody got time for that.
Imagine my excitement when I discovered these plastic tumblers that look exactly like the (non-dishwasher safe) fleur-de-lis glasses I’ve been lusting after for years at Anthropologie. Bonus: they’re toddler friendly. I’m also super pumped about Opalhouse’s cute selection of melamine dinnerware. We do a lot of cooking outdoors during the warmer months, and I’ve been looking for plates we can use by the pool.
My favorite thing I saw in-store is this brass leopard figurine. I just love pretty little decorative objects and for $14.99 why not add a touch of glam to my bookshelf?
When I got home and checked out the rest of the collection online, I was surprised to find so many gorgeous furniture pieces. And when I compared them to their Anthropologie counterparts… wowza! That’s a lot of savings.
